Levi Of Ital Vibes At Roots On 66 Music Fest

I had the opportunity to sit down with Levi Dozier singer of Long Beach based Reggae

band Ital Vibes to talk about new Ital vibes music, how the quarantine has effected him and the band, favorite local venues and so much more.

Q: What are the plans for the future?

A: With Ital’s vibes I plan on continuing to grow and move forward. We have an album being mastered at the moment and have been talking to a lot of people about Potential tours and partnerships. I also have my solo projects that I’ve been working on, periodically putting out singles and EP’s.

Q: What got you envolved in music in the first place?

A: I’ve been involved with music since I can remember. From the time I was two, I've loved seeing all of my parents favorite songs and when I entered the fourth grade I began learning drums, when I was 12 picked up the guitar, then when I was 17 decided I would try my hand at singing. It’s always been the only thing I can keep my interest so I knew it had to be a part of my life. Q: How do you feel about the internet in the music business?

A: I thinks it’s not good or bad but different. People can really pave the way for themselves but the market is now saturated with great music so it can be hard to navigate through it all. Plus it cuts out a lot of job titles like marketing manager or general manager as the artists coming out these days have been using the internet a lot more to diy. Q: What new music do you like?

A: I listen to a lot of different new artists ranging from the Skints, to SCARLXRD, to Tera Melos. I listen to a lot of my friends for the most part tho like Eureka sound, Apimpnamedsenpai, Mac Bosa, or the expanders. Q: Who are some musical icons that influence you/ital vibes? A: Me personally Erykah Badu, Q-Tip, and Akae Beka. The band is more influenced by ASWAD, Steel Pulse, Dennis Brown, Martin Campbell and midnite. Q: Favorite local venue to play and why? A: My favorite local venue is probably the Observatory Oc for its awesome backstage area, sound, and lights. It always turns way up in there and the vibes get heavy. If not that venue I’d have to say the dub club I’m down town la just because you can always depend on Wednesday nights as a great reggae night . Q: How is the quarantine affecting you/ital vibes A: The quarantine has been hard as we haven’t been able to play any shows or practice but we’ve been mixing and mastering our album in the free time and have been planning big things for the future.
